2020 Preparty Fundraisers
2020 Wishlist Foundation Preparty Fundraisers
Dear Pearl Jam Fan Community,
As you may already know, Pearl Jam has postponed the first leg of their Gigaton tour. While we’re sad that we won’t be seeing you and the band in the coming weeks, we fully support Pearl Jam’s decision to postpone the tour out of their deep concern for the health and safety of everyone involved.
We truly appreciate their genuine care for the fanbase, their staff, crew, families and the hundreds of others involved in orchestrating a tour of their magnitude. We can only imagine how difficult the decision was for the band and management to make, and we respect the courage it took to do so. Pearl Jam is without a doubt, a class act, prioritizing people first and choosing to be proactive in the face of the unknown.
The decision to postpone obviously means that Wishlist Foundation Preparty Fundraisers for this tour will be postponed as well. POSTPONED does not mean canceled - and that is what we’re choosing to focus on, and hope that you are too.
We’re going to keep planning the preparties as we have been, supporting our amazing beneficiaries and promoting the awesome venues that will be hosting us. We’ll still be collecting any generous donations that you may want to give - with the singular goal of looking ahead to when we’ll be able to gather together before the next show, whenever that will be!
Pearl Jam mentioned in their statement, “What we do wish for the rest of the country is that they can avoid the harsh negative effects of this and retain their sense of community and take care of one another.”
Our hope is to encourage that sentiment by making sure we’re helping take care of each other on the fan front - through mental health initiatives, healthcare outreach, and virus safety, as well as support. As we’ve done for the last sixteen years, we’ll continue to unite the fanbase online by planning virtual fundraisers, creating new content, offering contests, hosting web events and more.
Since we can’t be together in person on March 18th, our first initiative will be hosting a Facebook watch party of a past Toronto concert. No tickets necessary, drink as much as you want, hang out in your pj's and reminisce with fellow fans as we watch the show together online!
Stay tuned for details for the virtual Toronto show in the coming days.
No matter how cold the winter, there’s a springtime ahead…
